Q & A - #2 - "What movie have you seen so often you can (nearly) recite?"
Q & A - #2 - "What movie have you seen so often you can (nearly) recite?" ~ bostonerin

That's an easy one, Erin. It has reigned atop my all-time comedy list for years, probably never to be dethroned. Here are some clues...

1) Dusty Bottoms, Ned Nederlander, & Lucky Day.
2) "I think it's a male plane."
3) "You killed the invisible swordsman!"
4) "Are gringos falling from the sky?"
5) "What does that mean, in-famous?" --- "Oh, Dusty. In-famous is when you're MORE than famous. This man El Guapo, he's not just famous, he's IN-famous."
6) "I was thinking later, you could kiss me on the veranda." --- "The lips would be fine."
7) "Now, what is it that this town really does well?" --- "We can sew!"
8) "Can I have your watch when you are dead?"
9) "Fattenings?"
10) "Do you have anything here besides Mexican food?"
11) "Dear Little Buttercup, won't you stay a while? You and I would settle down in a cottage built for two...ohhh...dear Little Buttercup, sweet Little Buttercup, my Little Buttercup, I love you."
12) "You don't want to die with a sissy gun. You want to die with a man's gun."
13) "They were riding around in circles, waving their pistolas in the air!"
14) "Jefe, would you say I have a plethora of pinatas?" --- "Oh yes, El Guapo. You have a plethora."
15) "No we will not die like dogs. We will fight like lions! For we are...The Three Amigos!"

If you haven't seen The Three Amigos with Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Martin Short, you're in for a treat. For serious.

You son of a motherless goat. We've found that phrase especially useful now that we have a baby and don't want to curse! I have also put her to bed many a night singing "Buttercup."

GREAT movie :)

Putting the kids to bed with the "Buttercup." That's beautiful, indeed!

Good! I would have had to steal all your socks if it wasn't.

Hee! I don't own any! (But this would be a problem for the spouse, who would look mighty weird teaching up at Cal State Long Beach barefoot. Luckily he's the one who brought the first tape of it home.)

I have a plethora of fine memories of that movie. Do you know what plethora is?
The Blog of Author Jonathan Stephensjonstephens on February 1st, 2007 04:44 pm (UTC)
I would not like to think that someone would tell someone else he has a plethora, and then find out that that person has no idea what it means to have a plethora.

Steve Martin is a comic genius.

Excellent answer to my question. Thank you!
